Ladies’ Home Journal recently announced it will cease monthly publication of its 131-year-old print edition and become a newsstand-only quarterly with an online presence. Another storied magazine, Jet, said it was halting its print edition, although it too would continue to publish on the Web.

Charleston, S.C.-based Hawthorne Global Aviation Services acquired FBO and aircraft charter and management company ExcelAire at MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, N.Y. “We are delighted to be teaming up with ExcelAire as we focus on building our fixed-based operations network,” said Hawthorne president and CEO Steven Levesque. “This acquisition highlights our continued FBO focus with expansion into aircraft charter, management and maintenance.” The value of the deal was not disclosed.
